The company
WiMAX Telecom is the only company having acquired 3.5 GHz licenses for the whole territory of Austria and will offer its services in all provinces of the country over the next years. As the name already implies, WiMAX technology will be used (details under technology).
In addition to classical broadband internet access - as an efficient DSL alternative – additional Voice-over-IP services are offered, making the classical land line telephone connection and the basic charges to the fixed network operator unnecessary.
WiMAX Telecom basically emphasizes on nomadic application of the standard offering the customer a fast, flexible and cheap broadband usage either at home, in the office or e.g. at the weekend trip.
The initial step for the installation of the network will be affected in DSL – underserved areas (so-called white spots). Subsequently WiMAX Telecom will force the development in more populated areas of Austria in order to achieve the greatest possible coverage.
Beyond the activities in Austria, Slovakia and recently also Croatia, it is also an ambition to receive more licenses in Central and Eastern European countries.
