WiMAX Telecom acquires WiMAX-license in Slovakia
After Austrian rollout WiMAX Telecom is now establishing a second
wireless broadband network in Slovakia.
WiMAX Telecom gains a WiMAX-license
The Slovakian Telecommunication Authority (TÚ SR) has today
announced the rersults of the public tender for wireless broadband networks. The
following four internationally operating telecommunication companies won the
tender: WiMAX Telecom s.r.o., Telenor Networks, Global Tel and Amtel Slovensko.
According to the TÚ SR press release the most important
factors for the awarding were the companies’ credibility in establishing a functional
wireless broadband network as well as the guarantee of effective competition in
the customer’s favour.
“Since May 2005 all the ISPs have been put through their
paces and we are very glad for having acquired the acceptance of the tender!”
says Dov Bar Gera, Chairman of Wimax Telecom AG. „By now we are very
successfully on our road to build up an international wireless network in the
Central European region”, Bar‑Gera continues, having also further ambitious
plans.
Slovakian rollout in fall
WiMAX Telecom s.r.o., a subsidiary of WiMAX Telecom AG which
has been founded in May 2004 is going to make use of the newly acquired
frequencies briskly. A core team has yet prepared the service start in order to
start with WiMAX-broadband in Bratislava
and four other smaller cities by the end of the year.
International synergetic effects
Service development, network planning and network operation
is planned to cooperate closely with the Austrian part of the company to share
experiences. “Due to synergy effects we will realize the technical roll-out in
Slovakia very fast and offer more effectively better services in both markets!”,
says Peter Ziegelwanger, Managing Director of WiMAX Telecom in Austria and
responsible for the technological and system development of the group. |
